“La máquina de pintar” (The Painting Machine) is a collection of audiovisual art that explores the identity construct, specifically the construction of national identity through art. The title of the collection is inspired by the essay titled "La máquina de pintar" by Renato Gonzáles Mello.

Each artwork is comprised of video and audio generated with deep learning neural networks and explores a digital aesthetic representative of national identity, concluding that identity is a construct within the individual and the collective imagination thus it can be built or even generated by a machine.
